Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman from America. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the business. Corcoran was one of the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts in February, 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving from one job to another throughout Corcoran's early years. The family depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran says that her father was drunk who did her mother a disservice and condescension. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and she discovered later she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
