Kyra Minturn
Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an American producer, actress and director. Her most prominent role is that of Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, on TNT's crime drama The Closer. Sedgwick received two Emmy Awards in the years 2010 and 2007 for her performance as Johnson. The series ended following its seventh season. Sedgwick is also well-known for her recurring role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine's sitcom Madeline Wuntch. Sedgwick won the Golden Globe Award for her performance in Something to Talk About (1995). Sedgwick's roles in other films include Oliver Stone's Born to the Fourth of July (1989), Cameron Crowe's singles (1992) The Heart and Souls(93), Phenomenon (1996), What's Cooking (2000) as well as Secondhand Lions (2003). The Game Plan (2007) and The Possession (2012). Sedgwick was born in New York City, the daughter of Patricia (nee Rosenwald), an educator and speech therapy therapist, and Henry Dwight Sedgwick V, a venture capitalist. Her mother was Jewish and her father was an Episcopalian and of English origin. Sedgwick has stated that she is Jewish and has stated that she attends Passover seders.
